20 Ways To Save Money

1. Downgrade Your Cable- Do you have 150 channels along with specialty channels? Save money by downgrading to basic cable. Also, there are many videos/dvd's out there that are great to watch. The little money you spend on the dvd's will be much less than a monthly bill of over approximately $69 a month which adds up to $ 828 a year.

2. Avoid Late Fees - Do you wait till the last minute to pay for your rent, utility, car payment, or insurance policy bills? A couple of dollars here and there add up to quite a bit each year. Also, if you bounce a check, the return check fee each time adds up.

3. Don't Shop at the Grocery Store When Hungry - It not only saves you money from buying extra food but it will help your diet.

4. Use Coupons - The Sunday paper has a lot of free coupons that can save you lots of money at the grocery store. Pennies saved will amount to dollars saved later.

5. Ride the Bus or Walk as Much as Possible - If you live on a bus route or close to one, try riding the bus to work or to the grocery store. Try it out. I rode the bus for 8 years and was stress free from car repairs that can be costly.

6. Take/Make Lunches and Snacks To Work - I saved a lot by making my lunches and taking them to work. Money spent on the local cafeteria is costly each week. I take some veggies and chicken soup. Have a variety of lunches that are nutritious and keep you feeling good for the rest of the afternoon.

7. Be Frugal - No Impulse Buying - Most unnecessary purchases are made by impulse. Before you go to the store, make a list of what you need and stick to it. Calculate how much you think you'll spend and take just enough to buy what's on the list.

8. Is a Second Car Necessary? - Try to use only one car if you can. It saves on gas and money. Keep the second car as a backup in case your car breaks down.

9. Turn Off The Lights When You Leave The Room - Utility bills can be cut much lower if you make a habit of turning off the lights when you are not using them. It saves energy too. 10. Keep a Log of Your Expenses - Write down every penny you spend each day. Save your receipts. I was so surprised when I looked at the total amount each week. It was time to cut back.

11. Don't Eat Out - Restaurants are fun but they are sometimes expensive. Even the fast food joints every other day are not only unhealthy but put a toll on your budget.

12. Speaking of Budgets - Make One - Make a list each month as to what you have to spend for food, bills, rent and stick to it.

13. Cut Your Credit Cards in Half - The interest amount each year on credit cards is ridiculous. Pay cash for your necessary purchases.

14. Car Pool if Possible - Catching a ride to work is lots of fun and economical. Place an ad in the classifieds and check to see if there is anyone nearby that you can share a ride and gas expenses.

15. Drive the Speed Limit - If you must drive, keep the speed limit. Speeding not only gets you a ticket, it saves on gas.

16. Shop at Thrift Stores - Why buy designer clothes from the mall? Too costly for me. Gently used clothes look nice or better if you shop wisely. You can buy many things at a thrift shop, from clothes, furniture, toys, electronics to lots of household items.

17. Buy Generic Brands Rather Than Name Brands - If you must go to the mall or that expensive store, try to buy name brand stuff. The generic brand food at the grocery store tastes just as good as the name brand18. Stay Home as Much As Possible - Every time I went out, I ended up spending money. I now stay home more working on my hobbies, surfing the Internet and trying to make money from home. Try writing a book.

19. Smoke? Cut Down - I'm sure it is hard but try to cut down on your cigarette smoking. My roommate use to smoke and paid over $300 a month for cigarettes. How much does that add up each year? Too much.don't want to even think about it.

20. Open a Savings Account - All the money you've saved from cutting down, put it in a savings account. You'll earn interest as well as saving for college, that new house or for an emergency.
