Using internet marketing forums to create backlinks can greatly influence your ranking in the search engines. When post and comment in forums related to your market and then link it back to your website, the search engines rate that backlink much higher than a link on an unrelated website. In other words, where the link originates from is also considered by the search engine robots.

I am not sure why, but Google likes these type of links better than just typing out your websites address. Always try to use the same keywords you are targeting on the page you are linking to. Go to your profile's user control panel to edit your signature. Try to create a phrase that entices the reader to want more information. Something catchy, interesting or humorous works well. Sometimes it can be difficult to use your keywords and make the signature attractive, but don't think too long about this, you can always change the signature later if you think of something better. It's a good idea to test different signatures and keep track of the click-thru-rates of each.

One of the keys to success is to give more than you get. So if your purpose is to help others rather than making money, the people that read your comments will see that you are not just every other spammer around and begin to trust what you have to say.

Some forums will require you have a certain number of posts (replies) to threads started by other members before you can start your own threads asking questions. As well, some forums require that you have a certain amount of posts before your signature link becomes active and able to be seen by other members.

If this is the case, start interacting and begin making quality and valuable comments. When you can start threads, ask questions that will get people thinking and talking about the subject. Controversy is a tactic that always seems to work at getting people involved.

Always remember that you need to reply to people's posts to help keep the thread active and ranking high in the forum where other people will easily see it and join in on the conversation. Keep in mind, every reply with your signature is a backlink to your website!
